Masonry Crack Repair: Our Bestselling Brick Pin Fixing Kit

Stone and brick are both extremely strong materials, which is why they have been used for centuries to create all kinds of structures that stand strong to this day. That said, they must be kept in good repair as there are many factors than can cause small cracks to appear in these structures. Repairing cracks is absolutely essential as the problem will only get worse with time, eventually affecting structural integrity and leading to all kinds of problems from damp to total collapse.

Masonry crack repair is a Twistfix speciality and we offer numerous solutions to this pressing problem, all of which are absolutely guaranteed to deliver professional, lasting results. Where possible, we have created comprehensive kits that contain all of the necessary components to facilitate crack repair applications. One such kit is our Brick Pin Fixing Kit which, for reasons that will become clear in this edition of our blog, is one of our bestselling products.

One key thing that makes this kit so popular is its versatility, allowing masonry stitching to be carried out with minimum disturbance on a vast array of structures from bridges and tunnels to homes and workplaces. As well as stitching cracks, the contents of the kit can also be used successfully to connect masonry layers to parallel or perpendicular walls.

At the heart of this exceptional kit are ten stitching bars, each of which is made using premium stainless steel of the 304 grade; this grade is noted for being extremely robust as well as strongly resistant to the damaging effects of corrosion. Each heavy duty bar is a metre long, has a diameter of eight metres and displays a nominal tensile strength as high as 1,200 N/mm².

The bars are secured in place using WHO 60, a specialist masonry repair grout comprising powder and liquid components; each kit includes a 10kg container of this remarkable formula. After curing, WHO 60 bonding grout delivers 55 N/mm² of compressive strength, 5 N/mm² of tensile strength and 12 N/mm² of flexural strength. The kit is completed with a mortar gun, masonry pinning nozzle set and a mixer paddle.
