Remedial Wall Ties Installation for North London Council
Over 6,000 replacement wall ties supplied by Twistfix have been used in a major social housing refurbishment project in Haringey, North London. The work, carried out on behalf of Haringey Council is now completed to a highly-professional standard, restoring full structural integrity.
The principal contractor on the essential maintenance works was Mulalley & Co. Ltd., who are based in Woodford Green, Essex. After completing a survey of the two 7-storey blocks, which were constructed using dense aggregate block housed within a concrete frame and featuring brick façades, surveyors from the Council discovered a major lack of wall ties and put forward a remedial solution. This involved installing 6,100 stainless steel replacement wall ties, a solution that would take a team of 3 installers - one man drilling and two driving in the ties - around 10 days to complete.
The 9mm x 205mm helical CD ties from Twistfix were simply and quickly driven into pilot holes in the masonry walls utilising the impacting action of a hammer drill.
