8 mm x 1 m brick stitching bars fortify cracked masonry walls. These heavy-duty helical rods are in stock and sold in packs of ten at low trade prices.
Heavy-duty brick stitching bars are robust reinforcing rods that permanently strengthen and stabilise cracked brickwork. Our heavyweight spiral bars are 1 metre long and 8 mm in diameter. The bars are 25% bigger in cross-sectional area than similar-shaped rods with the same diameter. The additional mass of stainless steel gives the rods extra strength to perform better than other 'helibar' type products.
The helical-shaped bars fit into slots cut into bed joints, which extend 500 mm on either side of a crack. Fix them within the slot using WHO 60 polymer-modified grout. The grout sets around the peaks and troughs of the helix and bonds the reinforcement securely within masonry walls. This reliable stitching method is suitable for reconnecting brick and stone walls having vertical and diagonal fractures.
When bonded helical bars stitch across fractures in a wall, they resist applied loadings and spread them evenly along the complete helix length. A sequence of stitching rods centred across the crack forms a reinforced area that increases the brickwork's tensile, shear and flexural strength.
The 8 mm bars comply with BS EN 845-1 for reinforcing existing walls. A single grout-bonded 8 mm bar resits an axial load of over 11 kN. Putting two rods in one slot increases the resistance to 17 kN. The heavy-duty helical reinforcement restores masonry's strength and increases its resistance to further fractures.
Buy British-made brick stitching bars online. The robust 8 mm helical bar has superior engineering tolerances and strength. To fit the helix-shaped reinforcement into walls, you need WHO 60 grout, a mixing paddle, a pointing iron and a mortar applicator.
